A George III silver nutmeg grater,

maker's mark only, I.P, for James Phipps, London circa 1785,

plain oval cylindrical form, the hinged cover opens to reveal the hinged side with a steel grater, length 6.7cm, approx. weight 1oz.

Makers mark only inside the cover, hinges are good and both covers fit well, some rusting to the steel grater, fine surface scratches.
