A pair of George II style carved and stained wood cisterns

A pair of George II style carved and stained wood cisterns, the waisted and fluted bowl, on a leaf carved capped base with three scroll legs, decorated with C scrolls and cabouchon, united by an ornate leaf and bud stretcher, on conforming scroll feet, 79cm (31in) high, 42cm (16.5in) diameter, 53.2cm (21in) wide. (2) A mid 18th century cistern, on which this design is based, sold at Sotheby's New York in October 1996.
