A pair of silver regimental sugar tongs, 19th (Queen Alexandra's Own Royal) Hussars,

by Charles Henry Dumenil, London 1911,

Old English pattern, with the Princess of Wale's cypher, coronet and Danneborg Cross, the bowls formed as elephants, approx. weight 1.3oz.

Provenance: a Private Collection of Regimental Silver.

These were purchased by the 2nd battalion on return to England form South Africa in 1909. The elephant refers to the Battle Honour 'Assaye'.
