A silver regimental salt cellar, 1st Battalion, The Cambridgeshire Regiment,

by William Hutton and Sons, Sheffield 1920,

oval form, reeded borders, on four bracket feet, with a clear glass liner, length 9cm, approx. weight 3oz.

Provenance: a Private Collection of Regimental Silver.

Formed in 1860 as The Cambridgeshire Rifle Volunteer Corps. In 1887 they became the 3rd (Cambridgeshire)Volunteer Battalion, The Suffolk Regiment. They then became the 1st Battalion The Cambridgeshire Regiment.
