by Payton, Pepper and Co., Birmingham 1886,
the base modelled as an artist's palette, engraved foliate decoration, mounted on wood, the glass inkwell with a hinged cover, length 10.5cm, plus a late-Victorian silver and enamel ashtray, by W. Haseler, Birmingham 1898, pierced and enamelled with the four vices of man: a racehorse, a bottle, a playing card, and a lady, diameter 7.8cm. (2)
