An 18th century silver snuff box
An 18th century silver snuff box,
unmarked, probably German,
rectangular form, the hinged cover chased with a warrior and a dragon within foliate decoration, and inscribed 'OPE MEDAE VINCII', the base with a Bacchanalian figure on an eagle with the inscription 'RAPITUR GANIMEDS IN COELO', length 8cm, approx. weight 2.5oz.
