A matched set of eight George III silver soup plates,

six by Benjamin Laver, London 1782, and two probably by John White, John Weldring or James Wiburd, London 1767,

shaped circular form, gadroon borders, engraved with an armorial, the undersides with scratch weights, diameters 24.5cm and 24.3cm, approx. weight 149oz. (8)

The arms are those of Cholomondeley quartering Walpole with Beatie in pretence for James 4th earl Cholmondeley 1749-1827 and his wife Charlotte, daughter of the 3rd Duke of Lancaster.
