A set of eight George III silver soup plates,

probably by John White, John Weldring or James Wiburd, London five 1768 and three 1767,

shaped circular form, gadroon borders, engraved with an armorial within foliate mantling, the undersides with scratch weights and numbered '3, 5, 10, 61, 62, 63, 66, 71', diameter 14.3cm, approx. weight 136oz. (8)

The arms are that of Wilson quartering Sykes and Hatfield.

Provenance: purchased from Christie's South Kensington, Silver Sale, 19 January 1987.
