The sale comprises 828 lots, including flatware, mixed lots, Scottish and Irish items, foreign silver, early spoons and private collections.

Early spoons have continued to be a strong collecting market, and featured in the sale is a rare Elizabeth I provincial Apostle Spoon, St Peter, by Robert Gylmyn, York 1572, estimate £3000-4000.

The Woolley & Wallis Silver Department has been privileged to include Private Collections in all the quarterly silver sales, and the July auction is no exception.  Just two of the highlights of the sale are a Private Collection of Arts & Crafts and Modern Silver and a Private collection of Silver and Objects of Vertu.  There is also a Private Collection of regimental Silver, which includes the Royal Marines, The Military Train (6th Troop) and The Royal Welch Fusiliers.

The Arts & Crafts and Modern Silver collection comprises 58 lots, with estimates from £100-3000.  A particular highlight is an Edwardian silver and enamel presentation shield, by Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr, London 1908, the shield chased 'When Phoebus Throws His Golden Ray. The Feathered Choirs Hail The Day. In A Paean Sweet and Strong. Give Man Example For A Choral Song', 'Northampton Musical Competition Presented by Lady Wantage To Factories Competing In Choral Music 1909’, estimate £1000-15000.   Also, a large Arts and Crafts silver and enamel altar candlestick, By Carl Krall, (Barkentin and Krall), part-marked only, probably London 1911, estimate £1000-1500.

The Private Collection of Silver & Objects of Vertu is the perfect opportunity to start or add to collections and includes a group of silver and Old Sheffield Plate argyles, vinaigrettes, ‘Castle-top’ and other card cases from the Victorian period.  A highlight of the collection is an Aesthetic Movement parcel-gilt silver card case, by Deacon and Moore, Birmingham 1879, decorated with silver-gilt swallows, a fan, bamboo and other birds, estimate £300-400.
