of classical vase form, ribbon-tied foliate handles, the neck chased with foliage and anthemion decoration, acanthus leaf border, the front engraved with an armorial, with part-fluted decoration above and below, the fluted tap with a lion mask spout and fluted ivory handle, fluted pull-off cover with a crest and detachable fluted and foliate finial, the interior with a silver heating rod holder, on a raised fluted circular foot on a square base on four winged paw feet, height 54.5cm, approx. weight 170oz.

Provenance: Alexander Campbell (1768-1817), and then by family descent to the current owner.

The arms are those of Campbell of Hallyard, granted in 1814 to Alexander Campbell.
