The Abyssinia Medal
The Abyssinia Medal, 1867, awarded to Lt. W. B. Burton, 26th Regiment [Cameronians]. Very fine.
The Cameronians received the battle honour "Abyssinia" for an operation that had been completed without taking any casualties or engaging an enemy force. The recipient, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, was appointed to be Chief Instructor of the School of Musketry, in July, 1889.
