A pair of George IV silver sauce tureens and covers,

oval bellied form, leaf capped scroll handles, the pull-off covers with detachable handles, engraved with armorials with scroll mantling, the covers with a crest, on four heavy lion mask capped paw and bun feet, length handle to handle 22cm, approx. weight 72oz. (2)
Provenance: From the Collection of Sir Framjee Dinshaw Maneckji Petit, 3rd Baronet (1901-1983) and Lady Sylla Dinshaw Petit (nee Tata), and then by descent to the current owner. The 1st Petit Baronetcy was created on the 1st September 1890 for the Indian entrepreneur Dinshaw Maneckji Petit (1823-1901), of Petit Hall, Bombay. Lady Sylla Dinshaw Petit was the daughter of Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata.
The armorial and crest are that of Palmer Baronet of Carlton impaling Watson.
