the seated gentleman reading the Financial Times with the heading 'Financial Times Calcutt's panel-1800 bids', length 7.4cm, approx. weight 2.7oz.

Sir David Calcutt was a Silk specialising in commercial cases and a chairman of many committees and inquiries on privacy and the press. He was Master of Magdalene, Cambridge and Chairman of the Panel on Takeovers and Mergers. He was knighted in 1991. He died in August 2004 aged 74.

The Panel on Takeovers and Mergers commissioned this piece in 2000 to mark the retirement of Sir David as Chairman of the Panel.
