James I, Naval Reward, the 'Ark Badge', c. 1620, cast silver medal, possibly by Nicholas Hilliard, half-length bust of James I three-quarters right, wearing richly embroidered doublet, Garter George on ribbon, lace collar and large plumed hat fastened with jewel, + IACOBVS DG MAG BRITA FR ET HI REX, rev., smoke rises from chimney on Noah's Ark as it drifts on a wavy sea, + STET SALVVS IN VNDIS, 50 x 42.5mm (MI 233/96; 5; cf. Eim. 101A). Very fine with some chasing, edge a little bruised, very rare.
