General George Monk (1608-1670), 1st Duke of Albemarle [1660], Commander-in-Chief, politician and key figure in the Restoration of Charles II, silver badge, 1660, by Thomas Rawlins (?), armoured bust left, incised legend, GEORGE DVKE OF ALBEMARLE, rev., ducal coronet above the arms of Monk, within Garter, stippled background, wreath border to both sides, 40 x 31mm (MI 466/65, illus.; Eim. 218; MH 49; Platt II, pp. 222-23), suspension loop and ring. Nearly extremely fine, a little light tooling to obverse, extremely rare.
