James, Duke of York, and Lord High Admiral of England, the Battle of Lowestoft, lead or pewter medal, 1665, by J. Roettiers, draped and armoured bust of James right, IACOBVS DVX EBOR ET ALBAN DOM MAGN ADMIRALLVS ANGLIÆ, rev., scene of the action, NEC MINOR IN TERRIS, 77.5mm (MI 504/142; Eim. 228; vL II, 505; MH 55; Farquhar II, 241; Weiss FIG 10). Some bruising, very fine, rare.
James distinguished himself at the Battle of Lowestoft, fought on 3rd June, 1665, at which 24 Dutch ships were captured or destroyed.
