A rare George I oval snuff box, with a stand away hinge, the cover set with a stamped plaque depicting the portrait of Queen Mary II flanked by formal decoration, masks and scrolls, * gilt interior, maker's mark only struck four times, by Dennis Langton, London c.1720, 3in (7.6cm) wide, 1.4oz. *Literature: See Phillips, P.A.S: John Obrisset and his work in horn and tortoiseshell 1705-1728 plates 27 and 28 for a similar plaque set in the cover of a horn box by Obrisset.
