The Richmond Cup A George III silvergilt, horse racing trophy cup and cover, in the Neo Classical manner with chased stiff leaves, loop handles terminating in ram's masks, each side with an applied racing medallion and embossed vine festoons below a frieze of racing horses, and racing paddock scenes, inscribed under the foot "Pickett & Rundell Fecit", and inscribed around the rim "Richmond Cup 1780" and "Earl Fauconberg & Willm. Bethell Esq - Stewards", by Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp, London 1780, 18.8in (47.8cm) high, overall, 113oz. A similar Richond cup was sold in these rooms, lot 867 on 19th Oct 2005 for 90,000 hammer price.
