A shaped Irish Clan Badge of the Blake (Baron Wallscourt) family, a demi mountain cat left, motto on ribband around, SOLA NOBILITAS VIRTUS [Virtue is the sole of nobility], 45 x51mm, c. 1880.
Erroll Augustus Joseph Henry Blake, 4th Baron Wallscourt (1841-1918), son of a violent father who liked boxing and nudity, walking about the house with no clothes on with a cow-bell to warn off the servants. Eton, (1855-59), Coldstream Guards, retd 1867, Gentleman of the Bedchamber and from 1877 until 1880, Gentleman Usher to the Viceroy of Ireland. Lord Wallscourt died in Monte Carlo aged seventy-six on 22 July 1918
