George III and Captain Cook, The "Resolution and Adventure" or "Otaheiti" Medal, 1772, signed B:F ([Matthew] Boulton fecit), laureate head of George III right, GEORGE III KING OF GREAT BRITAIN FRANCE AND IRELAND, rev HMS Resolution and HMS Adventure sail towards the horizon, RESOLUTION ADVENTURE / SAILED FROM ENGLAND MARCH MDCCLXXII, first reverse with die break, 42mm (BHM 165; Betts 552; Eimer 744; MH 373). A well-worn and issued specimen that has been mounted with a linked silver and mesh chatelaine-type brooch fitting.
