A George II silver swing-handled basket,
by John Le Sage, London 1742,
oval form, pierced with mullets and scroll decoration, the border with masks, vine leaves, shells and foliate scrolls, the swing-handled with chased decoration and a crest, the centre with chased foliate scroll decoration and with an armorial, on a raised pierced oval foot, length 36cm, approx. weight 65oz.

The armorial is that of Edwin Lascelles (c.1713-1795) was created Baron Harewood in 1790 and married Lady Jane Fleming, daughter of William Coleman and Jane Seymour in 1770. She was the widow of Sir John Fleming, 1st Baronet. [The basket was inherited by his cousin Edward, who was created Baron Harewood in 1796 and Earl of Harewood in 1812. It is assumed he updated the coronet to match his other silver, but not the arms.
