An early-18th century Italian silver tobacco box,
maker's mark of a tower, Rome circa 1700,
circular form, finely engraved with playful cherubs in a landscape setting, the sides with town and countryside scenes, the underside with a female figure and cherubs collecting fruit, the interior gilded, diameter 9cm, approx. weight 5.2oz.

Provenance: A Private Collection.
Purchased from Sotheby's, Bond Street, London, Important Silver and Gold, 15 May 2003, lot 11.
