A novelty silver pencil,

marked sterling silver London made,

modelled as a truncheon, with a ring attachment, inscribed 'From Sir Charles Wakefield 16.6.26', length 5.8cm.

Sir Charles Wakefield (b.1859) patented the Wakefield Lubricator for steam engines in 1890's and then in 1899 founded the Wakefield Oil Company, which later changed its name to Castrol,

He was Lord Mayor of London 1915-16, and received a Knighthood for his services to the City of London, and was elevated to Baron Wakefield of Hythe in 1930, and then in 1934 Viscount Wakefield of Hythe.
