A pair of George III silver sauce tureens and covers,

oval form with a beaded border, reeded scroll handles, pull-off covers with urn finials, with engraved crests to the covers and armorials to the bodies, on raised oval bases, length handle to handle 25.4cm, total approx. weight 45.2oz. (2)

The armorial is that of Anderton, Horne, Bellingham, Bodington, Thurston, Doddington impaling Arnold, Kirekeby, Strangeways. The crest is that of Sherston. Peter Sherston (c.1745-1820) married Margaret Strangeways (d.1795) at Shapwick in Somerset on the 7th of July 1780.
