A late 18th century French, two-colour gold mounted blonde tortoiseshell boite a miniature, circular and decorated with a regular pattern of inlaid, rayed pellets and a double bead border, the cover set with the portrait of a young lady (behind glass) on ivory signed "Judlin, 1765" *for Alexis Judlin, the mounts with indistinct charge and discharge marks, c.1775, 2.5in (6.5cm) diameter. * Alexis Judlin Exhibited at the Royal Academy of London (1773-76) and the Parisian Salons (1791, 1793).
