A Charles II silver and ivory pair-cased verge watch by John Drake, London, c.1680, the movement with gilt plates and carved tulip pillars, the fusee with chain and the steel balance with an early straight line spring and regulator. The champleve dial with Roman hour numerals and a single blued steel hand, the plain inner case with makers mark TI, the outer case decorated with ivory, silver and gold pique-work, depicting the arms of Billingsley, in a surround of birds, mythical beasts and foliage, with traces of polychrome decoration, all in a protective fish skin case.
