An early 18th century French Butterfield dial

An early 18th century French Butterfield dial, of canted oblong form with a sprung gnomen and a bird pointer, the reverse inscribed with European cities and their degrees of latitude (from Madrid 40-26 to La Haye 52-6), signed Butterfield a Paris and struck with a discharge mark. 3.1in (7.8cm) long.
