A Victorian silver-gilt chalice and paten, by John Smith, Dublin 1856, circular tapering bowl with pierced foliate scroll and grape cage work, octagonal baluster stem set with eight amethyst cabouchons, on a raised shaped circular base with foliate decoration and a cross and IHS, the paten of plain circular form, height of chalice 25cm, diameter of paten 14.3cm. approx. weight 31oz.
