A pair of George II Irish silver salvers,
by Robert Calderwood, Dublin circa 1740,
circular form, the border with masks, shells and foliate scroll motifs, the centre engraved with an armorial within a foliate cartouche, on three scroll feet terminating in pads, scratch initialled to underside '28-7' and '28-10', diameter 27.5cm, approx. weight 55oz. (2)
Provenance: purchased from Bonhams, Knightsbridge, Fine Silver, 11 March 1997, lot 271.
The arms are those of Carr of Dublin, impaling Gifford quartering (?) Redmond.
