An 18th century silver and enamel snuff box,
unmarked,
rectangular form, the hinged cover applied with three dancing figures, gilded interior, the inside of the hinged cover with a finely painted satirical plaque of a well-dressed lady smoking a long-stemmed clay pipe and wearing a cocked hat with a red ribbon cockade, a winged putto behind her wearing a similar hat and sash, writing on a piece of parchment the words 'Je n'énrôle que des volontaires', length 6.7cm.
