A 19th century continental sewing compendium in a tortoiseshell box with ivory button feet fitted with the following rose-coloured gold items: a thimble, a pair of mounted polished steel scissors and sheath, two thread winders, a needle case, a mounted steel piercer, and a bodkin, struck only with duty marks, probably Low Countries/French c.1850, 5.5in (14cm) long.
