A George III swing-handled sugar basket,

by J. Hoyland and Co, Sheffield 1778,

vase form, pierced with horizontal and vertical slates, and embossed with ribbon-tied drape decoration, beaded borders and swing-handle, the raised circular foot with a crest, with a blue glass liner, height 13.5cm, approx. weight 6oz.

The crest is that of Bass, Eredy, Folton, Johnson, Tanke and Van Straubenzee.
