A William and Mary / William III silver nutmeg grater,

unmarked circa 1690-1700,

tear drop form, hinged cover and base, the cover with a later armorial, the base with a later crest, length 4cm, approx. weight 1.2oz.

Provenance: sold in these rooms, A Private Collection of Silver Nutmeg Graters Part II, October 19th, 2005, lot 18.

The arms are those of Edward Sleech, Clerk of the Exchequer, 3rd son of the Revd. Richard Sleech, Fellow of Eton and Prebendary of Windsor. In pretence is the cartouche of Elizabeth, née Bishop of London.
