A 17th century continental parcel-gilt silver pomander
A 17th century continental parcel-gilt silver pomander,
circa 1640,
with a foliate engraved finial and ring terminal, with a segmented globular body engraved with three images of figures, the finial unscrews allowing the eight segments to fall open to reveal sliding covers engraved: 1 Ranel, Moscat (later), 3 Rosmarin, 4 Schlag, 5 Negelren, 6 Rosen, 7 Citron, and 8 Lavendel on a spread circular foot which unscrews to reveal a miniature spatula, wear to gilding, height 5.5cm, approx. weight 1oz.
