£300 - £400 £400

By Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr, a silver cigarette case, Birmingham 1910, shaped rectangular form, spot-hammered decoration chased with a foliate motif and engrvaed 'A.H. Hughes', length 8.8cm, approx. weight 2.8oz. Provenance: Arthur Henry Hughes, then by descent to the present owner. Arthur Henry Hughes had a relationship with Alwyn Carr for a number of years, and in the 1940 National probate calendar, following Carr's death, he is listed as an Executor of Carr's estate along with Arthur Carr and Joan Carr. This would indicate that the relationship lasted from around 1910 until Carr's death in 1940. Carr was always known as 'Captain Carr' in the Hughes family.
