An Elizabeth I silver Seal-top spoon

An Elizabeth I silver Seal-top spoon,

maker's mark of a mullet over an annulet, London 1597,

the fig shaped bowl later gilded and with a later crest, faceted slight tapering stem, the gilded seal-top finial with traces of prick dot initials, length 16.9cm, approx. weight 1.4oz.

The crest is used by numerous families including Arundell, Barrow, Bellingham and Bondeville.

This crest is found on a James I Master Apostle spoon, from the Biggs Collection, Christie's, King Street, September 20 1978, lot 76.
