A George III Silver Badge, Britannia seated by shore holding spear and olive branch, a lion armorial shield and overflowing cornucopia at her side, sun rays from behind cloud and ships to left and right, exergue-line engraved '1678' with initials 'JC' below London hallmark 1793, maker IT, possibly James Tweedie or John Touliet, set in a contemporary deep blue enamel frame with scalloped edge, 90 x 60mm.¦¦The Britannia, with ships sailing behind her, perhaps displays a naval interest. A similar Britannia motif (without ships), was adopted in 1807 by County Fire Office and is found on their wall plaques. 1678 is the year that Britain negotiated Peace of Nijmegen [Nimeguen] between France and Holland.
