Included in the 22nd & 23rd July Silver & Objects of Vertu is a Royal presentation silver cigarette case, London 1936, and accompanying letter from George VI to his speech therapist Lionel Logue.  The letter, dated May 17th 1937 and written from Windsor Castle by the new King, tells of his gratitude to Logue for his assistance in helping him prepare for the coronation day.  The story of the relationship between the Australian therapist and his high-profile patient is well documented in the 2010 film The King’s Speech.  It is being sold with an estimate is £4,000-6000.  Also in the sale is a collection of Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau silver, being sold due to retirement.  The collection features 137 lots, comprising pieces by Ramsden & Carr, Liberty & Co, R. E. Stone, H. G. Murphy, A. E. Jones, Tiffany & Co, and other makers. On behalf of the Exbury House Trustees, we are selling a selection of the contents of the house and these include 40 lots of silver.  Highlights include a 17th century Dutch silver-mounted green glass shaft and globe bottle, £1000-2000 and also a pair of 17th century silver-gilt German tazza tops with Victorian silver-gilt bases, £2000-3000.  We are also selling a private collection of dip pens and combined pen and pencils, with estimates starting at £100.  There is a comprehensive selection of foreign silver, Scottish and Irish silver, flatware, hollow-ware and early spoons.

Please see changes to viewing times. Please be aware that collection of lots will not be available on Saturdays until further notice.
