£150 - £200 £180

Rowing: An early group of four silver prize medals, 1855, Henley Regatta, Visitors Challenge Cup (2), 40mm, instituted 1847 for coxed fours; Cambridge University, Head of the River (2), 1855, each pair mounted in small frame to either side of shield with crew's names. Very fine, though have been cleaned and several edge bruises and knocks. (4) It is not possible to determine the recipient(s) as four names on the shields are common to both races. 1855 was a curious year for university rowing as the boat race had been cancelled because of the diabolical wintry conditions.
