By Karl Faberge: a late 19th/early 20th century Russian icon miniature in an oval, parcel-gilt frame decorated with a border of raised angular scrollwork on an opaque, pale-green enamelled ground, punctuated by four shaped vacant reserves, triangular pendant loop and canted oblong 'window', the pre-Raphaelite miniature depicting 'Saint Nadezhda' (Hope), in a garden, signed 'Holy Marthyr(ess) Nadezhda' [Cyrillic]. 5.25in (13.5cm), with State marks for 1896-1908 and with scratched inventory number.
