Mashiko Auction

22nd June 2011

The Japanese earthquake and tsunami of March 11th brought with it immense destruction and abject misery for thousands of Japanese people. The potters of Mashiko were badly affected with the majority of noborigama kilns being destroyed, and workshops and homes damaged.

Potters in this country wanted to do something to help their Eastern colleagues at this time. The Leach Pottery Appeal was set up to try and provide some timely relief to help Mashiko potters rebuild their kilns and their lives.

On 22nd June, as part of our Arts and Crafts sale, we will auction a group of pots donated by some of the very best British potters including Gordon Baldwin, Bernard Leach, Jim Malone, Mike Dodd, Phil Rogers, Clive Bowen and Lisa Hammond. The entire proceeds of the sale of these items will go to the Leach Pottery Appeal.

The full catalogue for this sale is now online. Click here for more details.
