New Qualification for Jewellery Specialist

30th August 2019

We are delighted to announce the new qualification of Charlotte Glyde as a Fellow of the Gemmological Association. Charlotte joined the Jewellery department of Woolley and Wallis in 2017, working as an assistant to the department and senior specialist, Marielle Whiting. In her Gemmology Foundation course, Charlotte did so well that she was awarded the Anderson Medal (in October 2018). She has now completed the full Gemmology Diploma, which allows her to use the letters FGA after her name.

The Gemmology Diploma is considered an essential qualification for anyone working with gem stones, and the course not only covers the scientific testing and analysis of stones, but also the ethical and environmental implications of gems, which has become increasingly important.

Charlotte's qualification adds another string to the bow of the jewellery department, who have had a string of successful lots and important collections in recent years, including the single owner sale of Dr Anne Shannon last autumn.
