New Record Price for William De Morgan tile

21st June 2012

A new record was set at Woolley and Wallis's Arts & Crafts sale on 20th June 2012, when an unusual blue and white William De Morgan tile sold to a UK collector for £6,300 (including premium). The 15.5cm square tile was a rare blue and white version of De Morgan's design of a kingfisher catching a fish. This design has been known previously in a triple lustre version. The example in this sale came from the collection of renowned British collector, the late Albert Wade.
