Nureyev's Artworks Raise Funds for Underprivileged Dancers

Artworks from the home of the late Rudolf Nureyev are being sold at auction in Salisbury on 17^th June. The prints, paintings and sculptures belonging to the acclaimed ballet dancer and choreographer are being sold at Woolley and Wallis to raise funds for the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation - an organisation set up by Nureyev to promote and support a variety of causes, including young and gifted dancers.

The thirteen lots have been mainly taken from Nureyev's flat on the Quai Voltaire in Central Paris, with another originating from his Villa Arcadie at La Turbie in the south of France, and are typical of his extensive collection. His varied interests in topography and architecture, as well as music and dance, are represented in the 18^th and 19^thcentury prints, alongside the 20^th century sculptures. One modern etching bears a dedication to Nureyev from the Italian artist, José Ramson Alejandro.

Most of the lots bear very reasonable estimates and the sale offers a rare opportunity to own an artwork that was appreciated and owned by one of the foremost ballet dancers and choreographers.
