Princes in all but Name: The Rothschilds as Collectors

It was a pleasure to welcome Dr Timothy Schroder to conduct the 7th Tim Woolley Memorial Lecture on 30th September. The talk was held in conjunction with a private view of the Exbury House: Le Goût Rothschild auction and raised £1,400 to benefit Salisbury Hospice. Dr Schroder spoke about the Rothschild family and their collecting of Renaissance silver and other works of art. Twice Prime Warden of the Goldsmiths Company, Dr Schroder is an internationally renowned scholar and formerly a curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum and of the Gilbert Collection at Somerset House. He is the author of a number of books on Renaissance and other antique silver and gold, a Trustee of the Wallace Collection and Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
