A pearlware model of the Red Barn 19th century, the notorious building looking peaceful with a recumbent cow and pecking chicken outside, titled 'The Red Barn near Polstead, Bury St Edmunds' to the base, some damages, 17cm.
The murder of Maria Marten by her lover, William Corder, in 1827 captured the ghoulish imagination of the Victorian public and became a common theme for plays and ballads of the time.
