Description

An 18th century Channel Islands silver mote spoon,
maker's mark PA, probably for Pierre Amiraux, Jersey circa 1740,
the pierced oval bowl with a shell heel, mullets and scroll decoration, the tapering stem scratch initialled S.L.C, length 15.7cm, approx. weight 0.3oz.

This mote spoon is also illustrated in Delieb, E., Investing in Silver, Barrie and Rockcliff, 1968, page 23. Delieb attributes this mote spoon as American and by Pygan Adams, New London Connecticut, circa 1740.
