A CHARLES II NEEDLEWORK PICTURE

embroidered in fine petit point in polychrome wool and silks, depicting the fall of Icarus, with a lakeland scene, with a castle, a farmer plowing, a man fishing and a shepherd and shepherdess with their flock and Icarus falling from the sky while Daedalus is watching on in horror, in a cartouche border, later mounted on silk and applied with contemporary butterflies and snails, in a later glazed frame
