AN INDIAN BLACK STONE STELE OF AN ASCETIC
PROBABLY 8TH CENTURY
Modelled as a bearded figure seated in a meditative position upon a crouching ram, wearing elaborate beaded jewellery, a yogapatta, with his right hand clutching a string of beads and his left hand holding a bottle, attached to a metal stand, 34.5cm.
Provenance: from an English private collection, London, acquired prior to 2000.
