A RARE CHINESE PARCEL-GILT BRONZE ARCHAISTIC GU BY HU WEN MING

LATE MING DYNASTY

With a key fret band to the flared rim and four flanges to the central knop, cast in relief with archaistic designs of beasts and taotie masks on a diaper ground, with lappets to the neck and foot and a six character mark to the base reading yun jian Hu Wen Ming zhi picked out in gilt, 21.2cm, 1.1kg.

Provenance: an English private collection formed in Bath in the 1920s.
